KABUL, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and another was injured due to a gas leak from a cylinder in northern Afghanistan's Faryab province, state-owned Bakhtar news agency reported on Saturday.
The incident happened on Friday night in the Tagabshan region of the province's Garzywan district. The victims were using a gas cylinder for heating purposes, but a gas leak suffocated and killed the two individuals on the spot and poisoned the third one, the source declared.
In January, a gas cylinder leak claimed the lives of five members of a family in eastern Khost province.
In Afghanistan, the lack of a central heating system poses significant challenges for residents during the chilly winter. To combat the chill, many locals depend on traditional wooden stoves and gas heaters to provide warmth in their houses.
