Ten manufacturers expand capabilities to build more homes faster
February 20, 2025 - Toronto, Ontario
Everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home. The homebuilding and construction sectors are crucial to addressing the need for housing and increasing the number of homes available in southern Ontario. The Government of Canada is investing in local manufacturers who are coming up with Canadian-led solutions to build more homes faster. These efforts help us respond more quickly to housing demands, build homes more efficiently, and make sure Canadians have access to affordable housing. These efforts are closely aligned with the goals of Canada's Housing Plan, a historic plan to ensure all Canadians have access to housing.
Today, the Honourable Ruby Sahota, Minister of Democratic Institutions and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), visited Assembly Corp., a Canadian trailblazer in modern, affordable housing solutions.
While there, Minister Sahota announced nearly $19 million of investments to support 10 construction and homebuilding manufacturers: Assembly Corp., CABN, Diamond Manufacturing, Innovatools Inc., Inter Build Limited, MetaLigna Modular Inc., New Earth Solutions Inc., Northland Paving, Trusscore Inc.and UCEL Inc. By expanding production capabilities and adopting new equipment, these manufacturers are improving productivity to create innovative solutions to build more homes for Canadians. Additional information on these investments is included in the backgrounder.
The Government of Canada is supporting manufacturers in the homebuilding and construction industries that are creating skilled jobs and finding solutions to modern problems. This is part of our Government's plan to build more homes, make life more affordable and ensure Canada has a strong economy for generations to come.
