NEW YORK, New York - U.S. stock markets made little headway Monday, despite the trade deal negotiated by U.S. President Donald Trump in Scotland on the weekend. Negotiators lined up at Trump's Scottish golf resort with Trump himself, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen leading the way. The deal, largely resulting in each side inflicting tariffs of 15 percent, was seen more as a win for the United States, with European shares on Monday taking a bath. The U.S. dollar rallied with the dollar index leaping more than 1 percent. The Standard and Poor's 500 and Nasdaq Composite both closed at new record highs, although gains were subdued.
